About the Role

We are seeking a skilled 4th Class Power Engineer/Maintenance Worker to join our team at BC Cancer in Vancouver, BC. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing trades duties approaching journeyman level in various trade areas, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and welding.
  • Maintaining and repairing building systems, equipment, and plant systems, such as heating, air handling units, and emergency power.
  • Operating, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on Air Handling Units, Mixing Boxes, VAVs, emergency power, and other related equipment.
  • Processing individual departmental purchase requests and performing other related duties as assigned.
What You'll Do
  • Operate chillers, expansible fluid, and air conditioning systems, including starting up and shutting down chillers and related pumps, fans, air compressors, pneumatic systems, monitoring and adjusting temperature control system, pressure, and feed water levels.
  • Monitor and adjust physical plant and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems by operating a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, and/or electronic control systems and performing tasks such as altering systems operating parameters and schedules.
  • Repair and calibrate various instrumentation components of steam and HVAC systems, maintain required documentation, replace and connect actuators up to 120V, and perform other related tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of BC.
  • Two (2) years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, ability to deal with others effectively, and ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
