Job Overview

Royal Bank of Canada is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Chief Technology Risk Officer, responsible for leading our internal audit and control functions. This key position will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of our risk management framework and providing strategic guidance to senior leaders.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in audit or internal audit, with a strong background in information technology (IT) and data governance. They will be expected to develop and implement audit approaches and coverage strategies for Data Governance and IT functions, as well as drive a vision for IT solutions that improve security, productivity, and competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and establish audit approach and coverage strategy for Data Governance and IT functions
  • Drive the continual assessment of key and emerging risks at the platform level, and adjust annual plans as necessary
  • Influence and inform the Internal Audit strategic audit plan, adapt IA guidelines as required, and execute to success
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective risk management strategies are in place
  • Work together with Director, US Functions IT and US Data Governance as well as Managing Director RBC US IT to shift the capabilities of team members towards a predictive insights-driven organization

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in audit or internal audit
  • Strong knowledge of IT and data governance principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment

  • A salary range of $110,000-$190,000, based on experience and qualifications
