Job Title: Ophthalmology Specialist

About the Job:

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and the University of Manitoba are seeking a full-time, permanent Ophthalmologist to fill a labor shortage in Manitoba. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases, prescribing medications and treatment, ordering lab tests and x-rays, consulting with other physicians, and conducting medical research.

About the Department:

The University of Manitoba Department of Ophthalmology has a long-standing history of providing outstanding care for patients, conducting collaborative research, and educating the next generation of ophthalmologists. The department supports 7 residents in the Ophthalmology training program and offers fellowships in Retina.

Requirements:

  • A Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Ophthalmology;
  • Experience and interest in teaching residents and medical students in the clinic as well as the operating room;
  • A strong clinical practice, with opportunities for clinical research and quality improvement.

Location and Benefits:

The primary site location is Misericordia Health Centre, with additional sites at Health Sciences Centre and the University of Manitoba – Bannatyne Campus. Shared Health, the WRHA, and the University of Manitoba are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and offer a competitive salary range of $400,000 - $600,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
