We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working in a fast-paced medical laboratory environment.

About the Role

This role involves assisting laboratory professionals with various tasks, including collecting blood and tissue samples from patients, setting up medical laboratory equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the laboratory.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work well under pressure, and possess a strong attention to detail. Experience with computer systems, particularly MS Outlook and MEDITECH, is also an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Collect blood and tissue samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Set up and maintain medical laboratory equipment according to established protocols.
  • Clean and organize the laboratory to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Process incoming requisitions in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A College/CEGEP diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience with computer systems, particularly MS Outlook and MEDITECH.
