About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Climate Sustainability Expert to join our Planning, Urban Design & Sustainability team. In this temporary full-time position, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement projects that support the City's climate emergency action plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with various city departments and external stakeholders to synthesize inputs and coordinate project activities.
  • Conduct complex policy research and data analysis to inform project decisions.
  • Develop and present visual materials to internal staff, external stakeholders, and City Council.
  • Assist supervisors in designing, planning, and executing larger sustainability projects.
  • Create production-ready materials, including presentations for senior management and other city staff.
  • Write reports, including council reports, and provide graphic design and analysis using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Organize and prepare materials for public awareness and engagement.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in a related field, preferably in planning, architecture, engineering, business, or environmental science.
  • Considerable experience in climate, renewable energy, zero emission, sustainability, and environmental planning and analysis.
  • Experience with electric vehicle strategy, policies, and programs, as well as project management training or experience.
  • Knowledge of government structure and authority tools available to different levels of government.
  • Ability to develop, manipulate, and interpret complex data sets and develop user-friendly spreadsheets.
  • Exceptional MS Office skills, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite.

What We Offer

The City of Vancouver offers a competitive salary range of $51.13 per hour (Pay Grade GR-029). This temporary full-time position starts in January 2025 and ends in January 2026.
