The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role is a critical part of our care team, responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to our residents. This includes medication administration, mentoring, and coaching unregulated staff members.
This position qualifies for the provincial student loan forgiveness program, relocation reimbursement up to $5,000, as well as signing bonuses up to $5,000.
Responsibilities- Develop comprehensive care plans under the direction of the Director of Care or designate to meet the physical, psychological, and social needs of residents.
- Direct and assist care aides in following established procedures to ensure the delivery of exceptional resident care.
- Administer, monitor, and record medication administration while educating residents as needed.
- Create and manage nursing care plans, participating in evaluations of current and future medical needs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care treatments and inform the Health & Wellness Manager or designate and/or the resident's physician of significant changes in condition.
- Provide personal care assistance, perform nursing procedures, and mentor Health Care Aides.
- Collaborate with residents to address care requirements and communicate concerns to the doctor and manager as necessary.
- Maintain ongoing competence by utilizing knowledge, skill, judgment, and evidence-based practice in caring for aging adults.
- Ensure compliance with provincial continuing care health service standards, legislation, codes, regulations, and employment and safety statutes.
- Demonstrate awareness of accident and injury prevention through safe work practices and procedures.
- Nursing diploma completion.
- Registration with the provincial nursing regulatory body and good standing.
- Prior experience in a residential care setting is preferred.
- Able to demonstrate infection control procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors, and operational partners.
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple resident requests.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and problem-solve effectively.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
- Able to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, kneel, and lift 25 pounds.
- Display compassion, education, proficiency, and experience while assisting residents.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Clear Police Information Check.
- COVID-19 vaccination. This requirement may be waived if not vaccinated due to protected human rights grounds.
