Position Overview

The University Health Network is seeking a skilled Innovation and Quality Lead to join our Cancer Care Quality and Innovation team. As a key member of this team, you will play a vital role in advancing the Cancer Program strategy, ensuring safe and high-quality care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advance the Cancer Program strategy with enhanced infrastructure, data, and quality improvement projects focused on acute oncology.
  • Assist in the selection, analysis, and reporting of quality-related performance indicators to monitor the program's and unit-level performance.
  • Lead large and small-scale quality improvement projects focused on capacity management, flow, and acute oncology through proven methodologies.
  • Manage projects focused on innovation in care and initiatives designed to promote quality improvement on a program-wide and local patient-care unit scale.
  • Lead change in models of care to support future care delivery.
  • Complete quality audits, observations, and chart reviews to identify issues and facilitate audit and feedback.
  • Provide mentorship, leadership, guidance, and planning for quality initiatives through advocating for clinical standardization.
  • Work with the CQIN Manager, Clinic/Unit Managers/Directors, Disease Site Leaders, and front-line staff to integrate clinical best practices, legislative requirements, and policies into quality priorities.
  • Participate in relevant committees and administrative tasks to advance quality improvement within the Program.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of practical and related experience in the healthcare field.
  • Previous experience in quality, safety, and performance improvement methods is required.
  • Experience leading Quality Improvement initiatives within healthcare is required.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Ability to mentor and coach others on quality improvement methodologies for successful outcomes.
  • Experience working with physicians and other clinicians is required.
  • Project planning, with QI project charters and implementation experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating a major change initiative in a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated change management skills (consulting, negotiating, influencing).
  • Knowledge of hospital organizational structure and processes is preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Analytical ability with excellent attention to details.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
