About the Role:
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Toronto invites applications for a part-time Principal Research Scientist position in nanomaterials and diffraction-based sensing. The successful candidate will contribute to research projects led by a principal investigator, utilizing their expertise and experience to drive innovation.
Job Summary:
This is a 40% FTE appointment with an anticipated start date of November 15, 2024. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of synthetic organic chemistry, nanomaterials synthesis, and optical design. They will be responsible for independently carrying out research in areas related to diffraction-based sensing and sustainable technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to research projects led by a principal investigator
- Independently carry out research in areas related to diffraction-based sensing and sustainable technologies
- Develop and refine diffraction-based sensing techniques
- Synthesize and characterize nanomaterials for sustainable applications
- Collaborate with industry partners to develop innovative solutions
Requirements:
- PhD in Chemistry
- Minimum 5 years of experience in synthetic organic chemistry and nanomaterials synthesis
- Strong understanding of intellectual property and the IP landscape for nanomaterials applications
- Experience with academic and industrial research, including managing intellectual property issues
- Excellent project management and leadership skills
