Job Summary

The Senior Payments Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the treasury department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of high-volume transactions. This role requires a strong understanding of payments and related activities, as well as experience in defining, developing, and implementing operational policy and procedures.

About the Role

This position is responsible for managing a team of payments processing specialists, overseeing reconciliations processes, payment support, check clearing, and processing chargebacks. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of SWIFT messages and system, as well as knowledge of Canadian clearing arrangements, Canadian Payments Association Rules, and FINTRAC requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily payments processing activities, ensuring transactions adhere to industry guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Liaise with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to support investigations and ensure continuity of BAU processes.
  • Manage operational relationships with correspondent banks and partners.
  • Provide training to staff on operational processes and organizational initiatives.
  • Coach, mentor, and manage staff to ensure effective performance management and drive employee engagement.

Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in Finance or Commerce.
  • Demonstrate thorough operational knowledge of payments and related activities.
  • Ability to define, develop, and implement operational policy and procedures.
  • Minimum of 10 years previous Schedule II/Schedule III bank experience with extensive knowledge in Treasury Operations, DDA, and Trade Finance.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of SWIFT messages and system.
  • Good understanding of Canadian Payments Association Rules and FINTRAC requirement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year.
