Overview of the Role
Spiritual health is a vital component of overall well-being, encompassing an individual's sense of purpose, meaning, and connection to something greater than themselves.
The Spiritual Health Practitioner at the Health Sciences Centre plays a pivotal role in fostering a supportive environment that respects and honors patients' unique spiritual needs and backgrounds.
This position requires a deep understanding of human experience, including coping mechanisms, resilience, and recovery, as well as the ability to assess and respond to spiritual and religious needs in a compassionate and culturally sensitive manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Spiritual assessments and interventions tailored to meet individual needs
- Effective communication and collaboration with healthcare teams
- Cultivating a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and cultural safety
- Promoting personal growth, spiritual development, and professional competencies
- Leveraging leadership skills to drive positive change and improve patient care
- Maintaining high standards of ethical behavior and practice
- Staying up-to-date with research and best practices in spiritual health care
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited Canadian university or equivalent international education
- Supervised clinical experience in a healthcare setting, with preference for Advanced CPE
- Additional training in areas such as Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Safety, WRHA Health Ethics-Equity, Dignity Therapy, Advance Care Planning, and Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) conversations
- Active membership in a professional organization with a Code of Ethics and commitment to ongoing continuing education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree related to spirituality and health
- Graduate of a faith-based university or seminary with a focus on theology or divinity
Compensation Package:
We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000-$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
