Job Description

This position requires a highly skilled and experienced gerontological nurse to provide clinical leadership and consultation services to our healthcare teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert guidance on evidence-informed practice related to acute gerontological nursing;
  • Role modeling direct patient care skills to staff and students, and providing just-in-time education at the point of care;
  • Performing comprehensive gerontological nursing assessments to identify complex care needs;
  • Collaborating with interprofessional teams to develop and support individualized care plans;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of education programs and consultations to ensure older adult care/learning needs are met;
  • Participating in quality improvement and risk management activities to enhance patient care;
  • Supporting staff to plan and carry out patient/family education about discharge planning, illness prevention, and health promotion;
  • Collaborating with other practice leaders to provide leadership, consultation, and performance support to clinical staff and students.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of CAD $91,109 - $124,379 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, including four weeks of vacation, our employees enjoy a pension plan and opportunities for career growth and advancement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Clinical proficiency/expertise in acute gerontological nursing;
  • Ability to role model direct care skills, coach, mentor, and teach nursing skills that are compliant with current standards of practice and that ensure quality of care;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to conceptualize teaching from a unit to regional focus;
  • A degree in nursing or a related field, and relevant certifications (e.g., CPGN).
