Embark on an exciting internship opportunity with the Government of Yukon's Department of Tourism and Culture, as a Tourism Development Officer. This pivotal role plays a key part in fostering tourism growth and innovation across the territory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Yukon tourism industry to drive destination development, focusing on digital strategies.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and develop tailored workshops to address industry needs.
  • Support key department programs, such as the Rugged Apprentices program and the Go Digital Tourism Summit.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma in tourism, business administration, commerce, marketing, economic development, or a related field.
  • Research and report writing experience is a significant asset.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to build strong working relationships and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and diplomacy in communication.
  • Self-motivation, ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and task management.
  • Strong technical writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with social media and marketing would be beneficial.
  • Understanding of the Yukon Tourism industry is a valuable asset.

Additional Information:

The successful candidate will possess a Class 5 Yukon Drivers' License and be willing to travel throughout the territory. To qualify for the GradCorps program, you must be a resident of Yukon or a person of Yukon First Nations ancestry, have graduated with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution within the past two years, and have little or no work experience in your field of study.

Estimated Salary: $74,307 - $86,038 per annum, based on location and experience. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in destination development while contributing to core initiatives driving tourism growth in Yukon.
