About the Role

  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, and off-cycle Canadian payrolls for submission, updating employee records to reflect benefits elections, tax, vacation, timekeeping, and other relevant adjustments. Import files from ADP systems. Prepare and post employee pay statements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable provincial and federal wage & hour laws, maintaining current knowledge of the same.
  • Run and distribute reports weekly for pensions, union dues, donations, garnishments, and vacation accruals.
  • Process Record of Employment for inactive employees, verifying first & last day worked in payroll systems, creating spreadsheet files of ROEs, importing files to Service Canada, and distributing internally to site HR.
  • Answer inquiries from Service Canada and other government authorities.
  • Prepare source deduction remittance files.
  • Prepare Monthly/Quarterly/Year-End Reporting; EHT, employer union fees, WSIB, and deduction reports and reconciliations.
  • Support ad hoc information requests and reporting as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education – associate degree or equivalent job experience preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience processing Canadian payroll for employee populations over 500 employees.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • SAP experience – minimum 2 years preferred but not required.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Experience with ADP – Time and attendance, PTO module, and attendance module.
  • Quebec payroll experience preferred.
