Island Health is seeking a full-time or part-time Psychiatrist to work primarily in an outpatient setting, providing care for adults with various psychiatric and substance use diagnoses.

The ideal candidate must be comfortable working with persistently mentally ill, personality-disordered, and co-morbid populations within a community-focused program framework. The successful professional will provide services at the MHSU outpatient clinic and support ACT/ACSS services in the community.

Caseload will be shared with the current psychiatrist, and there are no on-call responsibilities after-hours or on weekends/holidays. Flexibility in a growing clinical environment and comfort with collaboration and consultation are essential.

Job Requirements

  • A medical degree (MD) and completion of a psychiatry residency program
  • Licence to practice medicine in British Columbia
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

About the Position

This position offers opportunities for professional growth and development in a collaborative and consultative service environment. Membership in the Central Island Division includes participation in Nanaimo Department of Psychiatry meetings and connections with colleagues in Nanaimo and Parksville.

Estimated Salary Range: $250,000 - $350,000 per year
