About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Cardiologist to join our team of skilled medical professionals at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. As a Heart Health Specialist, you will play a critical role in establishing a Heart Health Division in Nanaimo, working alongside a group of dedicated cardiac internists and intensivists.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing consultation services for hospitalist and other specialty groups, interpreting echocardiograms, performing Holter and ECG readings, and supervising nuclear perfusion imaging. You will also be expected to perform pericardiocentesis, DC Cardioversions, and rapid cardiac assessment clinics. Additionally, you will participate in outpatient follow-up of patients through private offices, routine administrative duties, and cardiology division meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide acute cardiology services, including consultation and emergency care
  • Interpret echocardiograms, Holter, and ECG readings
  • Supervise nuclear perfusion imaging and perform pericardiocentesis
  • Participate in cardiology division meetings and contribute to the development of departmental policies
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care

Requirements:

  • FRCPC Cardiology or eligibility for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Internal Medicine and Cardiology exams
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC
  • Experience working in a coronary care unit and acute and office-based cardiology

Estimated Salary: $350,000 - $450,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
