About the Role:

The Data Governance Analyst will play a key role in implementing data governance processes and policies to ensure the security, accuracy, and availability of our data. This includes working with data management and IT data custodians to develop internal data rules and guidelines, coaching business data stewards to develop strong data literacy practices, and enhancing the organization's data reliability and quality to support decision-making and protect against data-related risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Manager, Data Governance in building a robust and non-invasive Data Governance practice
  • Coach and support business and technical data stewards in clarifying data definitions, outlining data usage, and managing metadata
  • Develop a deep understanding of business needs and related data structures to drive recommendations on data usage
  • Deliver clear communication of governance principles to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Facilitate the implementation of data quality guidelines and processes, and develop controls and metrics to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Collaborate with data custodians and stewards to manage data lifecycle, address data issues, and support data-related decision-making
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on data governance practices, tools, and guidelines

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Analytics, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge and experience with data governance tools and applications
  • 4-6 years of experience in data governance, with a proven track record of implementing data governance frameworks and best practices
  • 2-3 years of working proficiency with a data governance tool, such as Informatica, Collibra, or Alation
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data quality issues using SQL or similar data querying language
  • Strong planning, tracking, and project management skills
