Health and Safety Coordinator
The Health and Safety Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the implementation and maintenance of health and safety programs, procedures, and processes to prevent and reduce the frequency and severity of workplace accidents. This critical position requires an individual who can effectively coordinate company-wide health and safety activities and requirements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Program Development and Implementation: Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement effective control measures to mitigate these risks.
- Audit and Inspection: Participate in auditing processes to ensure compliance with regulatory health and safety requirements and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on health and safety protocols, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate records of health and safety incidents, near misses, and audit results.
- Communication and Collaboration: Foster open communication with employees, management, and external stakeholders to promote a culture of health and safety awareness and cooperation.
Qualifications:
- Education: Post-Secondary education in Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Knowledge: Working knowledge of OHSA - Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant regulations.
- Experience: Previous experience in health and safety roles, preferably with incident investigation and report writing.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills; demonstrated organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills; strong analytical thinking.
We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000-$80,000 per year, commensurate with experience. The estimated salary is based on national averages for similar positions in Canada.
