About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing clinical assessment, planning, and implementation of prevention and early intervention programming for adolescents at-risk for or who have mild substance use and/or mental health problems.

You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide a wide range of services, including screening, assessment, supportive counseling, referral, case navigation/management, early/brief intervention, outreach, and group programming. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing harm reduction, population health, community development, health promotion, and prevention strategies.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Social Worker who possesses a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and is registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work. You will have a minimum of two years' experience working with adolescents at-risk, community resources, harm reduction, and substance use. You will also have excellent interviewing skills, suicide risk assessment, and group facilitation skills.

You will have a strong understanding of health promotion/population health framework, harm reduction, community development, strengths-based methods, and readiness to change model. You will also have knowledge of best practices related to screening, brief/early intervention, outreach, and community linkages for youth at-risk for substance use and/or mental health problems.

Hours

This is a permanent full-time position, working 75 hours bi-weekly. You will be required to work occasional evening and weekend shifts, as well as travel to various sites.

Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $33.97 - $42.89 hourly, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
