Senior Underwriter Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team at Billyard Insurance Group Inc. in Welland, Ontario.

About the Opportunity:
As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a critical role in evaluating and analyzing insurance applications to determine risk, eligibility, and completion. You will handle administrative tasks associated with the Underwriting Team and work closely with market partners to ensure seamless communication and submission inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and analyze insurance applications to determine risk, eligibility, and completion
  • Handle administrative tasks associated with the Underwriting Team, when required (Change of Broker Codes, Binder List, etc.)
  • Initiate outgoing phone calls to our market partners with submission inquiries
  • Monitor & action emails, voicemails, phone calls, and Teams messages
  • Onboard & train or facilitate the training of new Underwriters
  • Assist the Assistant Underwriting Manager to complete tasks or projects, as needed
  • Participate in Personal Lines team meetings, as necessary

Requirements:
  • A minimum of at least 3+ years of experience working as a Personal Lines underwriter
  • Post-secondary education in Insurance, Business/Office Administration, Economics, Law, Finance, or related field an asset
  • RIBO license an asset
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) professional designation an asset
  • Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) professional designation an asset
