Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team at Chinook Contract Research in Airdrie, Alberta.

This is a full-time contract position (3-6 months) with the possibility to extend or transition to a permanent position. The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm, with occasional scheduled work outside normal business hours.

As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and executing experiments that are part of our external contract research business. This includes writing and budgeting protocols for client sign-off, taking ownership of assigned tasks, and working closely with external and internal team members to ensure project completion on time and on budget.

• Design, plan, and execute experiments related to contract research and internal research programs.
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and work collaboratively with team members to achieve project goals.
• Process and organize data from research projects and apply results to various applications.
• Draft research proposals to secure grants and awards.
• Train and supervise students and laboratory technicians as needed.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A Bachelor's Degree in microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a closely related field.
• Postdoctoral experience is an asset.
• Strong background in science and laboratory procedures, particularly in microbiology and biochemistry.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Ability to work in a GLP environment and maintain accurate records.

This contract position offers a competitive salary range of $40,000-$80,000 per year, plus overtime pay. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including opportunities for professional development and growth.
