The Algonquin Resort is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef de Partie to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for maintaining records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory. You will also be expected to demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to our cooking staff, instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food, and prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets.
You will supervise cooks and other kitchen staff, prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions, and arrange for equipment purchases and repairs. Additionally, you will plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards, prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, and recruit and hire staff. You will also train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food.
The ideal candidate will have a Safe Food Handling certificate and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. You will be physically demanding and require attention to detail. You will also need to be dependable, have efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, initiative, and be organized and reliable. A team player with 3 years to less than 5 years of experience is required.
