The Prince George Native Friendship Centre, a pioneer in reconciliation and community growth, is seeking a Trauma Informed Mental Health Counsellor to join their dynamic team.

About the Role

This full-time position at the Native Healing Centre will focus on providing counselling support to Indigenous clients affected by Intergenerational Trauma. The successful candidate will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver holistic support services.


**Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one counselling sessions for IRS survivors and their descendants.
  • Develop and lead workshops on trauma-informed practices for clients.
  • Offer crisis intervention services and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with community agencies and other PGNFC services to ensure comprehensive care.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Experience working within Aboriginal communities.
  • Strong understanding of Intergenerational Trauma and trauma-informed practices.
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

We offer a competitive salary range of $31.00 - $34.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
