Crisis Intervention Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Crisis Intervenor to join our established interdisciplinary mobile crisis team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering crisis support services to individuals experiencing mental health crises, as well as community organizations and families/friends who are supporting them.
Your primary responsibilities will include triage of callers, clinical assessment of clients' psychiatric or mental health status, overall health status, the current situation, and risk to self or others. You will provide culturally sensitive and non-judgmental support, education, and problem-solving facilitation, as well as referrals or dispositions to appropriate services and resources deemed necessary.
Our team works collaboratively to provide crisis prevention, intervention, and follow-up services, both on the phone and in the community. As a Crisis Intervenor, you will be responsible for working independently and collaboratively with other team members and the community to achieve evidence-based outcomes.
About YouWe are looking for candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Nursing, or a recognized health-related discipline from a recognized university. You will have a minimum of two years' experience working with mental health issues, as well as knowledge of crisis intervention principles and practices.
You will also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective interpersonal and clinical skills, and the ability to work effectively and safely through a combination of phone and on-site assessment and intervention. A valid Nova Scotia driver's license is an asset, and proficiency in other languages, particularly French, is also desirable.
Hours and CompensationThis is a full-time long-assignment position, with approximately 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate will be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
