We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at William Osler Health System. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Safe Nursing Practice: Ensure safe and effective nursing practice in all aspects of the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Compliance with Policies: Comply with policies and procedures associated with observations, ensuring a high level of patient safety and well-being.
- Professional Patient-Centred Care: Provide professional, patient-centred care to ensure patient safety and physiological and psychological well-being, creating a therapeutic relationship and environment.
- Cultural Competence: Provide care in a compassionate and caring manner within a diverse cultural environment, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
- Infection Control: Practice according to infection control and prevention measures, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations by recognizing changes in patient health status and consulting appropriately when necessary, using transfer of accountability principles.
- Health Teaching: Provide health teaching to patients and families, including thorough discharge instructions to ensure continuity of care in the community.
- Clinical Experience: Possess clinical experience within the last five years, with a minimum of two years in an acute care setting.
- Hemodialysis Experience: Have a minimum of one year current/recent hemodialysis experience.
- Nephrology Certificate: Hold a nephrology certificate or proof of enrollment, with completion within 18 months of hire.
- Vascular Access Modules: Complete and apply the vascular access modules from the Ontario Renal Network.
- Nephrology Nursing Standards: Have knowledge of the Nephrology Nursing Standards and Practice Recommendations and Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technologists as they relate to hemodialysis.
- Professional Designations: Be a member of the Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technicians and hold a CNeph designation, if applicable.
- Quiz Requirement: Obtain an 80% score on a nephrology quiz prior to an interview.
- Registration and Licensure: Be currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Nursing Knowledge: Possess sound knowledge of the nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the nursing profession.
- BCLS Certification: Hold a BCLS certification.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team.
- Patient and Family-Centred Care: Demonstrate knowledge of patient and family-centred care.
- Health Teaching: Demonstrate experience with patient and family health teaching.
- Leadership and Facilitation: Demonstrate leadership and facilitation skills.
- Customer Service and Organizational Skills: Demonstrate excellent customer service, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- Continuous Learning: Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Stress Management: Demonstrate the ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
- Client Safety: Promote a healthy work environment and practice excellent client safety guidelines.
- Occupational Health and Safety: Have knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
