About the Role

Milton Hydro Distribution Inc. is seeking a skilled Powerline Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operation of our electrical distribution system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construct, maintain, and operate electrical distribution systems, including overhead and underground lines
  • Perform live line work on overhead and underground electrical distribution lines
  • Erect poles and associated structures for power lines
  • Build, repair, and operate underground cables and equipment
  • Install conductors and associated apparatus
  • Perform assigned maintenance work, troubleshoot, and restore electric power during emergencies
  • Operate motorized vehicles and equipment, including boom trucks
  • Install single-phase meter equipment
  • Perform line clearing duties as required
  • Solve routine problems
  • Perform on-call duties
  • Comply with the Ontario Utility Work Protection Code and other relevant regulations
Requirements
  • MEARIE Group Journeyperson Power Line Technician Certificate or equivalent
  • Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities Power Line Technician Certificate or equivalent
  • Full certification in the Ontario Utility Work Protection Code or willingness to acquire within six months
  • Working knowledge of electrical utility safety rules and industry safe work practices
  • Proficient in the use of tools and equipment associated with the trade
  • Valid Class "D" driver's license with "Z" endorsement
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work at heights and in all types of weather conditions
