About the Role
The Dementia Support and Education Coordinator position plays a vital role in delivering support services to individuals affected by dementia, connecting them with relevant resources and information. As part of our regional team, you will work independently and collaboratively to achieve this mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement dementia support programs and services that meet the needs of clients and stakeholders.
- Coordinate workshops, support groups, and educational sessions for caregivers, people living with dementia, and the public.
- Maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, allied health professionals, and other stakeholders to build and maintain a strong referral network.
- Provide one-to-one telephone support to individuals affected by dementia and their caregivers, offering access to our information, education, and support services.
- Manage client records and statistical reports according to organizational policies and guidelines.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have a post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience in a health or social agency related function. Your extensive knowledge of Alzheimer's disease/dementia and caregiving issues, along with your experience in public speaking, presenting structured education programs, group facilitation, and volunteer management, will be invaluable assets.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in a health or social agency related function.
- Strong understanding of northern communities and ability to engage Indigenous peoples through culturally sensitive outreach and collaboration.
- Flexibility regarding scheduling, with some evening and weekend work required.
- Able to travel within the region or province.
