Job Summary

The Mechanical Equipment Technician Lead plays a key role in a team environment, working to minimize non-value-added activities while maintaining or improving quality, productivity, and timeliness. As a trainer, this individual assists junior technicians in maintaining, troubleshooting, setting up, planning, installing, and rebuilding production and associated machinery.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with Production Technical Coordinators to ensure adequate resources and coordinate maintenance activities.
  2. Assist in resolving technical service issues with internal customers and formulate recommendations to resolve matters beyond existing SOPs.
  3. Serve as a mentor/teacher to junior mechanics in training, troubleshooting, repair, and rebuild of production and associated machinery.
  4. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP's), SOP's, and established Safety Standards.
  5. Recommend changes to designs, drawings, and modifications of equipment or parts as required in conjunction with engineering and maintenance.
  6. Stay up-to-date with company policies and new technology.
  7. Work independently with minimal supervision.
  8. Possess in-depth knowledge of equipment to be a subject matter expert for investigations, audits, training, or other purposes.
  9. Participate in situational leadership opportunities for projects or troubleshooting exercises as required.
  10. Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.
  11. Performs all work in support of our Corporate Values of Pride, Accountability, Integrity, and Diligence.

  13. Performs all work in accordance with all established regulatory and compliance and safety requirements.
  14. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  1. Minimum 10 years' experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical or consumer goods industry.
  2. Licensed in one or more of the following trades: Industrial Mechanical, Machinist, Tool and Die, Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanical Controls, or other technical certification.
  3. In-depth knowledge of mechanics and machine shop practices.
  4. In-depth knowledge of Electrical, Hydraulics, and Pneumatics.
  5. Knowledge of GMP, as related to pharmaceuticals.
  6. Knowledge of Quick Change Over Techniques and PLC would be an asset.
  7. Able to lead, collaborate with others.
  8. Able to train and pass on knowledge to junior technicians.
  9. Good oral and written communication skills.
  10. Good analytical and presentation skills.
  11. Proactive and self-motivated.
  12. Able to work any shift, including evenings and weekends.
