Job Title: Short-term Trader, West Power

About the Role:

Dynasty Power Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Short-term Trader to join our West Power team. As a key member of our trading team, you will be responsible for maintaining the operation of our 24-hour real-time desk, building and maintaining relationships with bilateral counterparties, and performing fundamental analysis on a daily/hourly basis on ISOs and bilateral regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain the operation of Dynasty's 24-hour real-time desk, which involves 12h rotational shiftwork.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with bilateral counterparties.
  3. Perform fundamental analysis on a daily/hourly basis on ISOs and bilateral regions.
  4. Monitor and execute physical and financial trades.
  5. Analyze ISO congestions and execute convergence/virtual trading strategies.
  6. Work with Risk, Mid, and Back-Office to ensure accurate trade capture and settlement.

Requirements:

  1. 3+ years of experience in power trading and/or transmission operations.
  2. Proven track record of proprietary power trading P&L.
  3. Experienced in CAISO and/or SPP physical power transactions.
  4. Experienced in bilateral regions such as PNW, DSW, and/or Mountain West.
  5. Understanding of CAISO and SPP congestions, and other financial products.
  6. Understanding of market fundamentals such as load, renewables, generation, transmission, and gas.
  7. Curiosity and desire to understand the power market from a first-principles approach.
