Labour Lawyer Expert for Strategic Health Partnerships

About the Opportunity
We're seeking an experienced Labour Lawyer to join our team as a strategic partner in labour relations. As part of our Labour Relations team, you will provide expert legal advice and advocacy to support the strategic objectives of Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health.
You will work closely with senior leaders within each client's organization to learn their strategic direction, values, and operational needs. Using your sound knowledge of labour law, you will provide targeted capacity development and education to support the client's goals.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing collective agreement interpretation and legal advice on complex problems
- Analysing and providing strategic direction on sensitive and multidimensional issues
- Representing clients before the Labour Board and occasionally the courts
- Leading negotiations for collective bargaining and essential services agreements
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB/JD)
- A practicing member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society or eligibility to become one
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in labour law
Prior experience in health sector and public sector labour relations, advising health authorities, and representing clients before labour and administrative tribunals is considered an asset.
Hours and Compensation
This is a permanent, full-time position, working 75 hours bi-weekly. The salary range is $51.14 - $63.92 hourly, with opportunities for professional growth and development.
