Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Student Life and Hospitality Operations to join our team at the University of Regina. This exciting opportunity will see you play a key role in shaping the future of student life and hospitality on campus.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the strategic direction, planning, and implementation of Housing & Hospitality Services, including occupancy management, event planning, and residence life. You will work closely with the Director, Student Affairs Housing & Hospitality, and the management team to develop a comprehensive marketing strategy that supports student recruitment and retention, increases revenues, and enhances the overall student experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain processes and procedures for housing applications, assignments, and campus room/space management;
  • Admissions and occupancy management within all university residential spaces;
  • Develop, manage, and communicate policies and community expectations to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Lead human resource management functions, including selection, training, evaluation, and supervision of staff;
  • Foster a positive work environment through leadership, coaching, and team meetings to meet the needs of residents and guests;
  • Manage financial resources, including budget development, target achievement, and expenditure control, ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
  • Develop and oversee marketing plans for residency and events, as well as communications to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Support student recruitment and retention initiatives;
  • Evaluate and improve the physical environment to provide a positive visitor experience;
  • Provide conduct and crisis management support, including on-call rotation and immediate problem resolution.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree supplemented by a Master's degree in higher education, education, business, hospitality, or communications;
  • 5 years' experience in a management role related to the responsibilities identified;
  • Proven experience in developing and managing ancillary budgets;
  • Experience with computerized booking systems, preferably StarRez and/or EMS;
  • Excellent organizational skills and analytical problem-solving abilities;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse environments;
  • Ability to provide effective communication in emergency situations;
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate a diverse team;
  • Extensive knowledge of marketing and communications strategies;
  • A demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service and resident life;
  • In-depth working knowledge and appreciation of diverse communities;
  • Event or hospitality experience preferred;
  • Experience in developing and implementing marketing plans to increase revenues and reduce operating expenses.
