Job Summary

WoodGreen Community Services is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Counsellor to join our Youth Justice Program. This is an exciting opportunity to work with at-risk youth and their families, providing evidence-informed mental health counselling services.

About the Role

This role involves promoting a culturally safe and therapeutic environment, establishing therapeutic relationships with clients, and providing in-person assessments and evidence-informed mental health counselling services. You will also participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings, engage in service coordination and case management, and refer clients to community services as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote a culturally safe and therapeutic environment and establish therapeutic relationships with clients consistent with the Agency Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Provide in-person assessment and evidence-informed mental health counselling services in the youth/family home and in the community.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute to effective teamwork.
  • Engage in service coordination and case management, ensuring seamless support for clients.
  • Refer clients to community services as needed, leveraging your knowledge of local resources.
  • Regularly record and maintain accurate client records, adhering to agency standards and privacy policies.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology, or Counselling (internationally trained professionals with the Bridge to Registration and Employment in Mental Health program are also welcome).
  • Post-graduate experience working in the mental health sector, ideally with youth (up to age 18), is an asset.
  • Demonstrated expertise in providing evidence-informed individual and family counselling techniques.
  • Ability to develop strength-based therapeutic relationships with at-risk youth.
  • Sensitivity to diverse client and staff groups, with a commitment to anti-oppression and trauma-informed practices.
  • Strong case management, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant community resources and excellent networking abilities.

Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $70,192.75 - $72,769.06 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
