The role of the Heavy Civil Construction Estimator at Bre-Ex Construction Inc. is a key position within our team, requiring expertise in estimating and analyzing high-profile infrastructure renewal, water & sewer, road reconstruction, environmental reclamation, and land development projects.
We are seeking an experienced estimator to join our team as a Project Cost Analyst - Southern Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of heavy civil construction and the ability to provide cost estimates for complex projects.
In this role, you will work closely with our project management team to prepare detailed estimates for infrastructure projects, including labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and transportation/logistics. Your research skills will be essential in gathering data on historic tenders and bid information, which you will use to create accurate summaries for our project managers.
You will also support our project teams in preparing contract change orders and other miscellaneous tasks. Upon successful award, you will assist in selecting sub-trades, ensuring that project safety, quality, and profitability targets are maximized.
Your responsibilities will include researching and sourcing price trend information for materials and equipment from suppliers and subcontractors, reviewing and analyzing bids, and negotiating pricing to achieve competitive and cost-effective solutions. You will also identify potential cost uncertainties and provide risk analysis for our senior management team.
An important aspect of this role is maintaining and updating our construction and cost database to ensure that correct pricing methodology is utilized. Additionally, you will participate in and lead project development initiatives, analyzing market trends and new project potential, and assist in training and mentoring other team members on contract language and interpretation.
As a Heavy Civil Construction Estimator at Bre-Ex Construction Inc., you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from small site grading jobs to large-scale infrastructure renewals. We are looking for someone with a minimum of 3 years of prior estimating experience in heavy civil construction, as well as advanced command of Microsoft Office suite, professional-level English language skills, adaptability, and a valid driver's license. An estimated salary for this role is $85,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience.
