Job Title: Data Modeler

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Data Modeler to join our team at Sekure Merchants. As a Data Modeler, you will play a critical role in designing and developing data models that support our business intelligence and data warehousing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business intelligence and data warehousing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data models.
  • Design and implement data architecture components, including data models, mappings, data flows, transformations, and interfaces.
  • Map data from source to target and prepare data models for multiple components of the data platform.
  • Develop a detailed knowledge of underlying data assets and data products and provide subject matter expertise on content, current, and potential future uses of data.
  • Work with data engineers to drive the implementation of data models and ensure data quality.
  • Participate in building a modern approach to data warehousing and the BI platform to support self-service, machine learning, and model development.
  • Ensure data security requirements are met and standards are enforced.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate risks, assumptions, issues, and decisions throughout the full lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • 3 or more years of experience with data warehousing, data management, and business intelligence in large-scale data management systems.
  • Strong technical understanding of data modeling, design, and architecture principles and techniques across master data, transaction data, and derived data.
  • Strong data modeling skills in designing, creating, and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Experience working with relational, dimensional, and analytic data modeling using RDBMS, dimensional, and ETL and data ingestion protocols.
  • Experience with data integration from different data sources, including MySQL, SQL Server, and Web APIs.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to describe complex information and designs.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Azure (Azure MySQL, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory).
  • Experience with an orchestration tool (e.g., Data Factory).
  • Logical and physical modeling on SQL Server databases.
  • ETL knowledge background.
  • Experience with DevOps.
  • Exposure to Python is an asset.
