Senior Construction Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Carpenter to join our team at Keats Island Construction and Services LTD. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing various construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

The Carpenter will be responsible for preparing estimates of labor and material costs, reading blueprints and determining work requirements, and preparing layouts in accordance with building codes. They will also be responsible for measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.

The ideal candidate will have a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate and 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in the construction industry. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors.

• Prepare estimates of labor and/or material costs
• Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
• Prepare tenders and quotations
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems
• Fits and installs windows, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware
• Schedules and coordinates work on sites
• Surveys building locations and levels
• Instructs apprentices
• Supervises other workers
• Estimates costs and materials
• Operates CADD and other computer software systems
• Maintains, repairs, and renovates residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $55,000 to $65,000 per year, based on industry standards and the level of experience required. We offer a competitive benefits package, including mileage reimbursement, to support our employees' success.
