The department of Probabilistic Safety Analysis at AtkinsRéalis is engaged in probabilistic safety analysis (PSA) in support of existing and new CANDU Nuclear Power Plants both domestic and international.

We are looking to hire a Reliability Engineer - Nuclear Safety. The incumbent will work with other junior and senior staff to develop and apply advanced analysis methodologies to perform PSAs and other PSA-related safety analyses for existing, refurbishment, and new build projects.

Your role within the team:

  • Conducting reliability systems assessments (process and safety), especially safety systems (e.g. emergency core cooling, containment), balance of plant, and plant operation and safety-related systems.
  • Interfacing with clients/projects to assess operational and safety issues and advising on potential solutions.
  • Developing risk monitor and generation risk assessments.
  • Developing, planning, scheduling, conducting, or coordinating detailed phases of the analysis work for a project of large scope.
  • Proposing/developing approaches to be used on safety analysis tasks.

This role offers competitive pay ($85,000 - $110,000 per year), flexible benefits, an employee share plan, and a defined contribution pension plan. You will also have the opportunity to work on various major projects for internal and external clients in a work environment focused on health and safety.

To succeed in this role, you will need a relevant Engineering degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience. Excellent knowledge of the CANDU design, including both NSP (especially safety systems) and BOP, is required. Proficient in CAFTA suite of computer codes, CFAST and/or RiskSpectrum is an asset. Proven leadership skills, providing technical guidance to assist and supervise analysts with good communication skills are also necessary. Experience in licensing activities would also be an asset.
