Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team at Young Boy Drywall Ltd., responsible for preparing accurate and detailed estimates of labour and material costs for construction projects. This is a permanent, full-time position with an estimated salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, and architects to gather data and information required to prepare estimates. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing estimates of labour and/or material costs;
  • Preparing estimates for general expenses and overheads;
  • Providing economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects;
  • Creating and submitting estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid forms;
  • Analyzing tenders and recommending awards;
  • Setting up cost monitoring and reporting systems;
  • Monitoring and adjusting contract expenditures;
  • Preparing and maintaining a directory of supplies and trade contractors;
  • Liaising, consulting, and communicating with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates;
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in construction estimation or a related field;
  • A college diploma or CEGEP certificate in a relevant field (e.g., construction management, engineering);
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
