Senior AppOps Specialist

At Interac Corp., we're shaping the future of digital payments in Canada. As a Senior AppOps Specialist, you'll play a key role in designing and delivering innovative solutions that give Canadians control over their money.

As a hands-on application subject matter lead, you'll drive application and platform insights, working closely with technical teams to deliver cutting-edge payment solutions. You'll be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, tuning, and supporting Interac's high-performance payment systems.

You'll proactively diagnose, resolve, and mitigate application problems, ensuring optimal performance and availability of national payment systems. You'll focus on building application automations through all environments, driving proactive observability, detection, and self-healing capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving application stability and service automation/optimization initiatives, ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Optimizing application performance, leveraging performance data, monitoring/diagnostic tools to drive service excellence.
  • Analyzing application testing and production trends, identifying emerging issues, and implementing tuning and enhancements.
  • Developing scalable solutions to reduce manual intervention and streamline application deployments/validations and availability.
  • Optimizing the application build, development, and testing by integrating and streamlining all aspects of Application Operations.
  • Implementing application changes, configurations, and code promotions through all environments via automation.
  • Designing and standardizing Enhanced Application insights, including observability and trending.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed technical and support documentation for our applications and systems.
  • Consolidating and automating dashboards, events, and reports on Application performance metrics/KPIs.
  • Providing technical leadership, guidance, and maintaining application security, technology currency, and vulnerabilities remediation.
  • Responding to and resolving escalated issues, 24/7 rotating on-call production support.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of programming experience in Java, Python, Spring Framework, AngularJS, etc.
  • Expertise in using version control systems, such as Git, for managing codebases and collaboration.
  • Expertise with scripting, e.g., Power Shell, Python, and Ansible.
  • Experience with microservices and containerization (i.e., Docker).
  • Experience using tools such as Azure Monitor, Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, ServiceNow.
  • Good understanding of AKS architectural concepts: clusters, namespaces, nodes, pods, services, autoscaling, ingress policies.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile development and Agile frameworks (e.g., JIRA, GitHub).
  • Good understanding of software lifecycle, including release planning, release processes, software testing, incident, problem, and change management.
  • Good understanding of different types of open-source packages, preferably Spring, Apache, and data transformation (JSON, XML).
  • Well-versed in analyzing data, identifying, and proactively mitigating risk to production systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to seamlessly communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong and energetic team player, able to engage with all stakeholders in a team environment.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with OpenShift Kubernetes.
  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Certification.
  • Experience with DevOps concepts.
  • Good understanding of database systems, such as Oracle, PostgreSQL.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (or similar across AWS, GCP, etc.).
  • Experience working in Agile squads.
  • Experience working with OpenShift.
  • Experience working in the Financial and Payments services.
  • ITIL Certification.
