About the Role

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Officer to join its Finance Operations team. As a key member of the Procurement team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective and efficient management of procurement activities for the Okanagan campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement of Goods and Services: Facilitate and lead RFx and Direct Award Processes while maintaining adherence to established Supply Management sourcing processes and practices.
  • Procurement Guidance and Assistance: Provide guidance and assistance to faculty and staff in all aspects of procurement, including interpreting related policies and procedures.
  • Records and Document Management: Prepare and maintain accurate records and documentation on all solicitations, responses, purchases, contracts, correspondence, and related documentation.
  • Vendor Development and Maintenance: Promote and develop contact with external suppliers to establish new sources of supply and collect and report statistics to measure commodity and/or supplier performance.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Analyze current procurement activities and recommend improvements through more efficient procurement methods, quantity discounts, standardization, value analysis, and cooperative procurement.
Requirements
  • University degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of two to three years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to negotiate and prepare contracts, analyze contract terms for risk, and inform stakeholders of risks.
  • Proven customer support experience and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • University degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of direct Procurement experience in a Procurement role responsible for RFx/tendering process or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Public sector purchasing experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience working within an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, particularly in Workday.
  • Knowledge and experience working within an eProcurement software, specifically in Bonfire and BCBid.
