Senior Trader

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Trader to join our Mutual Funds team. As a key member of our trading team, you will be responsible for executing daily trades, resolving issues, and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Support and execute daily Mutual Fund trade orders, including buys, sells, and switches on Dataphile.
- Execute trades and cancellation orders via FundSERV when necessary.
- Provide support to Portfolio Managers, colleagues, and other departments to resolve escalated complaints, disputes, or issues.
- Communicate with Mutual Fund Companies, regulators, and network providers to stay informed about industry developments and changes.
- Review executed and rejected trades daily.
- Learn to calculate dilution losses or gains.
- Maintain duplicate Mutual Fund account numbers and dormant trades on the order book.
- Support Portfolio Managers and staff with Mutual Fund products, back-office systems, procedures, and regulations.
- Administer recurring events for Portfolio Managers to ensure accurate processing.
- Respond to calls or emails from Portfolio Managers or internally to resolve or address issues in client accounts and escalate when necessary.
- Update and modify the Mutual Funds Procedure Manual to ensure it remains up-to-date.
- Maintain accurate client demographic information with Fund Companies for proper tax reporting.
- Support various departments by serving as a liaison between them and Portfolio Managers on issues affecting day-to-day operations.
- Identify and recommend process improvements in Mutual Fund operations and administrative functions to enhance productivity and profitability.
- Meet established service standards for problem resolution and customer service.
- Analyze trends and recommend process or operational improvements with staff and Portfolio Managers.
- Support Portfolio Managers in understanding Dataphile, entry types, modules, and order book processing.
- Resolve concerns with customer accounts and forward complaints and errors to the appropriate department in a timely manner.
- Escalate administrative issues found within departments or staff discovered through interactions with Portfolio Managers and internal staff.
- Support projects and follow-ups with Credential partners, fund companies, and outside institutions to provide additional client services.
- Recommend improvements to service quality where applicable and actively seek areas for improvement within Broker Solutions and the service provided to Credential partners and investors.
- Identify areas for process improvement, make recommendations, and implement them once approved.
- Support senior team members in performing regular monthly, quarterly, and annual duties.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Post-secondary education.
- 5-10 years of experience in the investment industry with a good understanding of Mutual Fund investments.
- Successful completion of the CSC & CPH or the IFIC.
- Understanding of FundSERV N$M settlements, purchases, redemptions, switches, cash/reinvested, and notional distributions.
- Understanding of various Mutual Fund products, including Hedge, Pooled, Investment Trusts, Flow-thru shares, Linked notes, GICs, HISA's, and open-end Mutual Funds.
- Recognition and understanding of the regulatory rules governing Mutual Funds established by IIROC and MFDA.
- Outstanding versatility with the ability to conduct with professionalism, build rapport, and exercise resourcefulness and understanding.
- Proficient computer skills and good knowledge of FundSERV, myserv, Broadridge, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Independent and self-motivated with the ability to escalate issues when necessary.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude, thriving in fast-paced environments and multi-tasking.
- Maintaining the quality and operational excellence with the highest level of service.
- Capable of achieving required objectives within the company and regulatory requirements.
- Attentive to details and pursuing quality in accomplishing tasks.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
- Fluent communication skills in both English and French, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
