Sessional Instructor, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

North Island College is seeking a qualified individual to instruct in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The successful candidate will teach the practice course NUR 414: Nursing Practice VIII – Transitioning to BSN Graduate to a cohort of BSN students via a face-to-face delivery method.
This sessional instructional assignment involves teaching a variety of nursing topics, including Community, Adult Medicine, Adult Surgery, Mental Health, Older Adults, and/or Women & Children. The successful candidate will implement creative strategies in the preparation and delivery of practice activities and use initiative in providing documentation and follow-up with regard to student concerns and problem resolution.
The schedule for this assignment will be flexible to meet the needs of the program. The teaching faculty of North Island College are responsible for implementing the College's vision, goals, and objectives as they relate to teaching and learning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and conducting evaluations or appraisals of students and keeping students informed of their progress. They will also be responsible for submitting grades in a timely manner and maintaining records of student enrollment and achievement.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Nursing, current registration with BCCNM, and current CPR level HCP. They will also have a minimum of two years of experience with expertise in one or more of the following areas of practice: Community, Adult Medicine, Adult Surgery, Mental Health, Older Adults, and/or Women & Children.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate effective team behaviours, support cooperative and effective working relationships, and contribute to shared team goals. They will also have excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and prioritize, and efficiently meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach the practice course NUR 414: Nursing Practice VIII – Transitioning to BSN Graduate to a cohort of BSN students via a face-to-face delivery method.
- Implement creative strategies in the preparation and delivery of practice activities.
- Use initiative in providing documentation and follow-up with regard to student concerns and problem resolution.
- Design and conduct evaluations or appraisals of students.
- Submit grades in a timely manner.
- Maintain records of student enrollment and achievement.
Required Qualifications
