Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning (TRU-OL) is seeking a qualified content expert/curriculum developer to collaborate on a major revision of ENGL 3741: Milton's Paradise Lost.

Course Overview
This course focuses on Milton's Paradise Lost, one of the most influential poems in the English language. Students will demonstrate depth of knowledge and critical understanding of the poem through close critical reading comprehension, written composition, and argumentation.

Responsibilities
The course developer will work under the guidance of the Instructional Designer and collaborate with the course development team to:
  1. Participate in brainstorming and planning sessions.
  2. Develop a detailed course planning document, including relevant learning outcomes, learning activities, and assessments.
  3. Revise and/or develop content, including learning activities and authentic assessments, to ensure relevance and appropriateness for an online continuous entry course.
  4. Create multimedia or other active learning activities to ensure student engagement through experiential learning.
  5. Choose effective and appropriate resources, prioritizing low-cost and accessible options.
  6. Accurately cite sources and identify third-party material that may require copyright clearance.
  7. Follow the guidance of the Instructional Designer on the inclusion of AI-generated content.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be selected based on the following criteria:
  1. PhD in English is required.
  2. Experience teaching English Literature.
  3. Demonstration of current and ongoing engagement in the course subject matter through research and/or the scholarship of teaching.
  4. Proven course development skills in a face-to-face or distance environment.
  5. Demonstrated ability to write in a clear and consistent style with grammatical accuracy.
  6. The ability to meet deadlines.
  7. The ability to work in a collaborative and consultative manner.
  8. Experience or education in online course development or online facilitation is an asset.
