Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory to ensure efficient kitchen management.
  • Collaborate with cooking staff to implement new cooking techniques and introduce cutting-edge equipment, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Serve as a supervisor, guiding specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers to achieve exceptional results.
  • Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation techniques to maintain high standards of quality.
  • Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including specialty foods, for regular customers and special guests or events.
  • Develop and direct food preparation and cooking activities across multiple restaurants, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Plan menus that meet exacting quality standards, staying ahead of culinary trends and customer preferences.
  • Pursue talent acquisition and hire top-tier staff, focusing on strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling practices, emphasizing food safety and quality assurance.
About You
  • 1-2 years of experience in a senior chef role or similar position.
  • Degree in Culinary Arts or related field.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Able to work under pressure, multitask, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and motivate staff.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations, as well as food safety protocols.

The estimated salary for this role is between $45,000 and $65,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Mcewan offers a competitive benefits package, including opportunities for career advancement and professional growth.
