Job Title: Metallurgist

We are seeking a highly skilled Metallurgist to join our team at the Gahcho Kue Mine in the Northwest Territories. As a Metallurgist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and optimum performance of our ore processing department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement metallurgical processes to optimize plant performance and product quality.
  • Collaborate with the geology and mining engineering departments to ensure accurate and reliable data.
  • Analyze and report laboratory results to inform process improvements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to laboratory technicians and de-falsifiers.
  • Develop and maintain laboratory procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Audit processes to prevent product loss and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide coverage to the sort house and laboratory operations as needed.
  • Work closely with Plant Operations and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure optimal process performance.
  • Assist the Ore Processing Manager and Process Plant Superintendents with budget preparations and production planning activities.
Requirements:
  • Degree in extractive metallurgy, mineral processing, or chemical engineering.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a mineral processing plant, preferably in the diamond industry.
  • Professional Engineering (P. Eng.) designation or ability to obtain.
  • Experience with plant simulations and physical separation theory.
  • Excellent data analysis and database query skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
