Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Education Assistant to provide support to students with physical disabilities, chronic health impairments, intellectual disabilities, and/or social, emotional, and behavioral problems. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Principal(s) and general supervision of the Classroom Teacher(s) to assist students and support the achievement of program goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Provide assistance to students with physical disabilities, chronic health impairments, intellectual disabilities, and/or social, emotional, and behavioral problems.
• Work under the direction of the Principal(s) and general supervision of the Classroom Teacher(s) to support student learning and achievement.
• Assist students in a designated area, either inside or outside the school, before, during, and/or after school as defined by the terms of the assignment.
• Deliver a higher level of care to students as required by the position.

Requirements:

• Completion of Grade 12 plus a special program, such as the Capilano University Education Assistant Program, and over six (6) months up to and including one (1) year's related experience.
• Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License.
• Knowledge of basic First Aid.
• Basic knowledge of related learning tools, such as computers.
