About the Role

This key member of our team reports directly to the Director of Estimating and works closely with the estimating team to develop accurate and timely estimates for various projects throughout Canada.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing full-cost estimates, including labour, materials, transportation, and 3rd party subcontracting, as well as assisting with historical cost analysis, establishing unit rates, risk management, and other related activities.

The accuracy of estimates is critical to the profitability of the business, and this role plays a vital part in ensuring the success of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop project estimates, working within a team to determine bid strategies and reviewing proposal specifications, drawings, and pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required estimate contents.
  • Coordinate with sales teams to ensure adequate communication regarding client expectations and evaluate and recommend allowances for indirect costs, project risks, escalation, and contingency.
  • Work with operations partners and the Director of Estimating to review and approve cost estimates, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by working with the estimating team to build and update cost estimate models and streamlining the bid process.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Technical Requirements:

  • Technical training in construction or an equivalent combination of technical training and estimating experience.
  • Relevant post-secondary education preferred.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong office suite skills, especially spreadsheets and word processing software.
  • Previous work experience in workforce accommodations or facility management considered an asset but not required.
  • Experience in commercial construction estimating considered an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret building specifications and blueprints.
