Job Title: Community and Social Services Worker

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Community and Social Services Worker to join our team at The Governing Council of The Salvation Army. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to individuals and communities in need.

Job Summary:

The Community and Social Services Worker will work in a fast-paced environment, providing administrative and office activities, preparing reports and case histories, and conducting follow-up assessments. You will also develop, coordinate, and implement the delivery of specific services within the community, providing suicide and crisis intervention, and resolving conflict situations.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare reports and case histories
  • Administrative and office activities
  • Conduct follow-up assessments
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement the delivery of specific services within the community
  • Provide suicide and crisis intervention
  • Resolve conflict situations
  • Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients
  • Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research
  • Accompany clients to appointments and social outings
Requirements:
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience, or equivalent experience
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate
  • Cultural Awareness Training
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
Work Environment:

The Community and Social Services Worker will work in an urban area, in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre, social service or charity agency, or shelter for the homeless. The work environment is fast-paced, and the worker will be required to work under pressure.
