About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Credit Specialist to join our team in Toronto, ON.

This is a full-time opportunity with Alterna Savings and Credit Union Limited.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to the growth and ongoing management of the Microfinance and Community Account portfolio.
  • Sourcing, receiving, investigating, and analyzing requests for microfinancing from various sources.
  • Making recommendations to the Manager, Community Microfinance for micro financing credit.
  • Delivering Alterna's credit, investment, and other products and services to both existing micro loan recipients and potential new members.
  • Presenting seminars on behalf of Alterna to inform and educate small business entrepreneurs on credit solutions.
  • Preparing and presenting loan summary recommendations.
  • Managing the administration of the micro loans.
  • Designing and preparing data analysis reporting forms.
  • Supporting retail branch staff as a subject matter expert.
  • Assisting the Manager, Community Microfinance with Business Development initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Post-secondary education at the Community College/University level in a related business discipline.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar role in a financial institution, ideally in a retail, commercial, or community account role.
  • Knowledge of Retail and/or Small Business credit granting is considered a strong asset.
  • Bilingual (English & French) is considered an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of various computer applications including Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Community Economic Development.
