Job Summary

The Financial Reporting Analyst will be a member of our Financial Reporting team at Inter Pipeline, contributing to the preparation of financial statements, MD&A, internal management reporting, and special projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a desire to learn about accounting and financial reporting within an established organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial submissions to Inter Pipeline's parent entity and Inter Pipeline's externally released financial statements and MD&A.
  • Contribute to the monthly consolidation of Inter Pipeline and its subsidiaries.
  • Prepare financial analysis and internal reporting for management throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate in the research and documentation of the appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions, situations, or agreements that may result in unique or complex accounting treatment.
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards, including changes to financial statements, system changes, and training of staff.
  • Collaborate with the Business Unit accounting groups and other areas of the business.
  • Liaise with external auditors and Inter Pipeline's internal SOX team.
  • Assist with other ad-hoc internal reporting and special projects, as required.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in, or a recent graduate from, a post-secondary institution with a focus in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Second or third-year student preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team in a fast-paced, growth environment.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage and progress multiple deliverables.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform critical self-review.
  • Well-developed communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Mindset for continual learning, growth, and development.

Working Conditions

Full-time position, Monday to Friday.

This position is identified as security-sensitive, and employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results.
