Job Summary

Thales is seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel and Manager of Contracts to join our team in Ottawa, Canada. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for reviewing and negotiating contracts, identifying and mitigating risks, and providing expert legal advice to our project teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement contractual documents and processes to ensure effective business relationships with customers.
  • Conduct legal research and provide opinions on contractual matters, including negotiation of key terms and conditions.
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance, and other departments to ensure compliance with prime contract terms and conditions.
  • Monitor and review contracts for financial, legal, and technical obligations, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide timely and effective legal advice to senior stakeholders, and escalate issues as necessary.
Requirements
  • Law degree (LLB, JD) and current membership in a provincial bar association in good standing.
  • Minimum of five years of experience practicing commercial law for a law firm, government, or corporation.
  • Working knowledge of government procurement policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with hardware, software, technology, or technical data controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, Canadian Controlled Goods Program, and other relevant regulations.
