The Provincial Health Services Authority, a leading provider of specialized health services in British Columbia, seeks an experienced Cancer Care Specialist to join its team. This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated healthcare professional to make a meaningful difference in the lives of cancer patients.

About the Role:

This position involves providing holistic care to oncology patients at BC Cancer Hospital Unit 5 in Vancouver, BC. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure seamless delivery of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to identify areas of need and develop targeted care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and develop strategies to address potential side effects.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring that all relevant information is documented and easily accessible to the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to provide education and support, promoting self-management and empowerment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices and policies.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Minimum one year of recent experience in oncology nursing or a related field, with a strong focus on patient-centered care.
  • Current CPR certification and proficiency in using electronic medical records systems.
